Believe it or not, the supercharger install was actually very uneventful. I know practically nothing about cars, or at least I didn't, until now. Aaron and Samara came down from Lexington, KY to assist me on the installation. I thought it would be a good way for me to learn how my car works.
The supercharger itself arrived a couple of weeks prior to the install. I ordered it with plenty of time ahead to make sure.
The first thing I had to do was remove the ECU. It came with instructions, and it was fairly easy. I overnighted it to Neuspeed, who reprogrammed it and overnighted it back.
Upon their arrival Tuesday evening, after a quick tour of the house, Aaron and I got started working on the car. I had already removed the hood of my car, but I couldn't remove the wipers to take off the plastic guard piece below the windshield. Aaron figured out that if you pull down on the wipers, it unclicks some kind of latch and they pop right off. Fascinating.
We called it quits around 12:15am. We'd already taken off the old parts, and bolted on the supercharger.
Aaron and I started working on the car after lunch. We didn't really have a whole lot left to do, and we were finished (we thought) around 6:30. We fired it up, but it was idling very rough, where it was even stalling out. We drove it around the neighboorhood, and then up and down Old Carriage Road. It definitely had some more pickup, but it wasn't running right. We began checking vaccuum lines, and hoses, making sure everything was tight. Then Aaron noticed in the back that we had a hose hooked up to the wrong thing. We had to run down to Advance to get a vaccuum cap, but once we had it hooked up properly, it idled perfect.
We were going to take it to a local drag strip to a test & tune. There are two within an hour from me. One required a helmet, and the other didn't answer the phone. So we sat around and played XBox instead.
That pretty much sums up our install. I had the webcam set up in the garage to take pictures every 15 minutes.
